Why Get Porcelain Tiles That Resemble Wood Flooring?

Wood flooring has a classic beauty - no one can deny this. However, this material isn't exactly for everyone. As you may know, there are certain conditions when wood just won't cut it. Because of this, people buy products like porcelain tiles that resemble wood flooring. What exactly are the advantages of this product?

Savings

Well, with this product, you can have the beauty of wood flooring plus so much more. For one thing, getting this type of product is often a lot cheaper than getting certain types of hardwoods. The most beautiful hardwoods are often the most expensive. However, with this type of flooring material, you can have the look of hardwood without the cost, which is something people certainly like.

Durability

Why not just buy laminated flooring? Sure, laminated flooring also simulates the look of real wood and it is a lot cheaper than porcelain tiles. However, have you considered durability? Although porcelain tiles are coated with scratch-resistant chemicals, they are often designed only for light traffic areas. That means if you put them where people frequently walk, you are going to have a pretty scuffed floor in a matter of years.

Porcelain is different. When you get porcelain tiles that resemble wood flooring, you know that you will be getting something that will last you your entire stay in the house. You don't have to spend cash on replacing tiles every few years. This means you get more value for your money.

Moisture protection

The most common problem with wood flooring is that it can be quite sensitive to moisture. Although a variety of chemicals are used to protect hardwood and engineered wood flooring, the fact remains that they can only withstand what you would call "typical" moisture. You cannot use them to floor bathrooms, kitchens or any other area which can truly become wet. As you know, ceramic and porcelain tiles are used for that.

However, the look of ceramic tiles often so shockingly contrasts to the look of wood flooring that the whole combination becomes an eyesore. By making use of porcelain tiles that resemble wood flooring, you will be getting rid of this problem. You will be able to create smooth transitions between dry and wet areas in your house.

Easy Fitting

If you have ever tried flooring your house using hardwood, you may have discovered that planning the whole installation can be pretty frustrating since some pieces may not fit. You have to cut them exactly to size or the whole planning process becomes a waste of time. This is not a problem when you use tiles.

Tiles are easy to lay down and fit into a room. They may not fit exactly, but the whole adjustment part does not come until the end of the whole flooring project. Even then, it is only a minor inconvenience and not a total disaster.

When you buy porcelain, however, you have to remember that you can't exactly use the tiles to form a floating floor. This can only be done with hardwood. You can't nail or glue them down either, as nailing will definitely crack the tiles and gluing will result in an unstable floor. Having to use cement is not too bad, when you consider the benefits of getting porcelain tiles that resemble wood flooring, right?
